After-School Programs: Evaluations and Outcomes (2003)

This
is a synthesis of evaluations and research on after-school
programs. In addition to looking at what impact the programs
have on student outcomes, the methods used to study these
programs and developed recommendations for improving the
data collection—as well as improving student outcomes—in
after-school programs were also examined.

document proposes five standards and indicators of quality
for the evaluation of programs for children and youth experiencing
homelessness. It explains each standard, offers possible
data sources for evaluating a program based on each standard,
and suggests best practices related to each standard.

The Local Homeless Education Liaison Toolkit is
a comprehensive tool that will assist both new and veteran
liaisons in carrying out their responsibilities. The Toolkit
contains over 250 pages of the most useful and current information
on increasing access to and success in education for children
and youth experiencing homelessness. The Toolkit,
updated in 2004, includes informational chapters, appendices,
and a companion PowerPoint presentation.
McKinney-Vento
Issue Briefs (2003) 
This series of briefs discusses selected issues pertaining
to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and offers
strategies for implementation.
