Education Policy

SERVE believes that all states want to provide their children with a high-quality education. To assist our states in that commitment, the SERVE Education Policy program assists state policymakers and educators in the Laboratory's six-state region by providing timely policy analysis on education related issues.

SERVE places a senior policy analyst in each state's department of education. They work in a variety of ways to help foster an informed policy environment that supports local and state policymakers in each of the six SERVE states. Policy analysts:

  • Act as primary liaisons for SERVE in each state.
  • Respond to requests from the Chief State School Officer, staff, and other state policymakers for policy research and analysis.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and assessing state programs.
  • Track and analyze education legislation.
  • Synthesize policy information and develop policy options.
  • Share responsibility for developing policy briefs.
  • Provide policy information and services to other SERVE programs and other Regional Education Laboratories.
