Sciences Reform Act of 2002
The
Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002 is the authorizing
bill that provides for Federal education research,
statistics, evaluation, information, and dissemination.
The
Institute of Education Sciences (IES) is the U.S. Department
of Education's main research arm. In that role, IES
compiles statistics; funds research, evaluations, and
dissemination; and provides research-based guidance
to further evidence-based policy and practice. Its three
operational divisions are the National Center for Education
Research, the National Center for Education Evaluation
and Regional Assistance, and the National Center for
Education Statistics. Learn about the role
and function of IES.
