SERVE Senior Project Research
Senior Project Stakeholder Survey (1998–1999)
This file summarizes the results from SERVE's first SP implementation
study. SERVE administered surveys to students, faculty members,
parents, and SP coordinators at 16 established SP sites
in the spring of 1998 and spring 1999.
A Preliminary Study of Senior Project Programs in Selected
North Carolina High Schools (2002)
During the 1999–2000 school year, SERVE conducted
a study using a quasi-experimental design that matched four
SP high schools with established SP programs with four schools
without the program.
Senior Project College Admissions Survey (2001)
This study involved the surveying of 50 college and university
admission representatives from highly selective, very selective,
selective, and non-selective colleges and universities from
across the country. Respondents were asked to assess the
importance of student participation in SP for the admission
process.
North Carolina Senior Project Survey Results (2002)
Administered in spring 2002 at the request of the North
Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and the
North Carolina State Board of Education, this study was
developed to determine the number of high schools that had
implemented or were planning to implement SP.
Senior Project Level I Certification Process Pilot Test
(2003)
This certification process determines if high schools have
faithfully implemented Senior Project. It was field tested
in seven high schools across the country in 2003.
Characteristics of Senior Project Schools (2004)
A
comparison of North Carolina Senior Project and non-Senior
Project high schools showed that Senior Project high schools
had a higher free and reduced lunch rate than non-Senior
Project schools. All other school characteristics were similar.
Senior Project: Effectiveness Study in South Carolina
(2004)
A study of four South Carolina high schools (two SP and
two non-SP) using limited randomization in assignment to
determine program effectiveness. The analysis utilizes a
quasi-experimental design and examines pre- and post-test
student scores as well as survey results indicating future
educational and work force expectations, for both SP and
non-SP students. The sample contains 237 students.
Associations With Attitudes, Aspirations and Skills Study
(FL and NC) (2004)
A study of four Florida and North Carolina high schools
(two SP and two non-SP) using limited randomization in assignment
to determine program effectiveness. The analysis utilizes
a quasi-experimental design and examines pre- and post-test
student scores as well as survey results indicating future
educational and work force expectations, for both SP and
non-SP students.
