New Resource Archives: January – March 2005
This presentation explains the relationship between the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and Title I of the No Child Left Behind Act. Concepts covered include comparable services, the mandatory reservation of funds set-aside, and strategies for collaboration between the programs. Length: 11:01 This report by the Metropolitan Housing Coalition (Louisville, KY) examines the link between education and housing. This annotated bibliography lists and describes a selection of publications released between 2002 and 2004 that deal with issues related to the lives and education of children and youth experiencing homelessness. This sourcebook, compiled by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, is an evolving compendium of information to assist communities moving forward on plans to end family homelessness. Each section provides a unique contribution to the overall goal of ending family homelessness, including a fact sheet on family homelessness, a review of research on the intersection of child welfare and homelessness, a selection of best practices, and a selected bibliography of research on family homelessness. This NCHE guidebook will assist McKinney-Vento programs with the collection and reporting of outcome data. It will help program staff become familiar with the current set of McKinney-Vento standards and indicators, understand the purposes of these standards and indicators, assess the strengths and challenges associated with the collection of data on each of the standards, and develop strategies for implementing the standards and indicators at the program level. This report, issued in August 2004 by the U.S. Census Bureau, presents data on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States based on information collected in the 2004 Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) to the Current Population Survey (CPS) conducted by the Bureau. |
