FirstStep
FirstStep, developed by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a web-based
interactive tool for helping individuals who are homeless to access
federal benefit programs. The tool contains information pertaining
to income assistance, health care assistance, food assistance, housing
assistance, employment services, alcohol and drug abuse treatment,
child care, life skills, mental health and counseling services,
and HIV/AIDS services.
National
Alliance for the Mentally Ill
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is a
nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization
of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental
illnesses. Visit NAMI's website for a variety of resources, including
information about specific mental illnesses, information about public
policy, and links to state and local resource and help groups.
National Health
Care for the Homeless Council
The National Health Care for the Homeless Council (HCH)is
a membership organization comprised of organizational members and
individuals who are organized as the HCH Clinicians' Network. HCH
advocates, conducts research, provides training, publishes informational
videos and books and collaborate with other organizations to support
the provision of quality healthcare to people experiencing homelessness.

Mental Health Information Center
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
this website provides many valuable resources on issues of mental
health, including a services locator, which lists mental health
facilities and resources by state.
National
Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental Illness
The National Resource Center on Homelessness and Mental
Illness (NRCHMI) is the only national center specifically focused
on the effective organization and delivery of services for people
who are homeless and have serious mental illnesses. NRCHMI offers
workshops and trainings, provides technical assistance, develops
publications on homelessness, housing and mental health issues,
maintains an extensive resource library, and responds to information
requests from the field.
