Kindergarten News:

The entire kindergarten went to Flintwood Farms to learn about farm animals. They made milk and actually milked a cow!!!! In the future, they will be learning about different cultures, foods and traditions at Christmas time with a unit of study called, "Christmas Around the World." The students will make a "Tradition Book" with a memory or tradition from their own family.

Mrs. Dix’s class made a tee-pee for November and will be talking about Indians. The students are making Indian jewelry and clothing and getting Indian names. They are also participating in the Galaxy Program and are learning about healthy foods and how germs are spread.

First Grade News:

The first grade will be going on a field trip to the Clayton County Performing Arts Center to see 101 Dalmatians. Unit studies will consist of activities centered on the holiday seasons including an original Thanksgiving Dinner with Native Americans and Pilgrims. Christmas studies will include learning about holidays celebrated around the world.

Second Grade News:

The second graders are reading the storybook Amazing Grace and will be taking a field trip on December 3,1999 to the Center of Performing Arts to see Peter Pan. Mrs. Daniel’s class is learning Power Point presentations to create book reports. They are also writing pen pal letters to Louisiana, Tennessee, and California. They will send digital pictures and emails to each other as soon as those schools have Internet access.

Mrs. Holden’s class is trying Galaxy Science. She and her class are excited about all the neat and interesting stuff they are doing. All four-second-grade classes are involved in the Accelerated Reader Program.

Fourth Grade News:

The student’s have gotten off to a good start with the Galaxy Classroom Network, "The House." The students are enjoying the writing of faxes. The fourth grade students are beginning the Reading Renaissance Program to help build reading skills.

Fifth Grade News:

Our fifth grade students have just completed reading the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. They will be performing a play entitled "The Wizard of Oz" at the November 11th P.T.O. meeting. The students math program consists of learning data interpretation and they are moving into geometry. The will be doing a complete study of nouns in Language. The students will begin reading the novel Shades of Gray by Caroline Reeder which will lead them into a complete study of the Civil War.
