State Coordinator, North Carolina Homeless Education Program (NCHEP)
Well organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic, Lisa serves as the State Coordinator for the NCHEP at the SERVE Center where she dedicatedly advocates for homeless children and youth. This entails training, technical assistance, conference planning, collaboration with the community, and monitoring of North Carolina local education agencies and charter schools.
Lisa began working with the SERVE Center in June 2009. Prior to her arrival, she spent 6 years running her own business while also working as an Assistant Principal. She has experience as a School Social Worker, Parent Liaison, and Manager and Trainer for Willie M. Program services to group homes within North Carolina. She has served on the board of the North Carolina School Social Work Association as a Regional Chair and Membership Chair. She has also served on that organization’s conference planning committee. Lisa has experience in team building, grant writing, developing various training materials, and in delivering training in areas concerning at risk children and youth. She has also provided mentorship and internship supervision to numerous students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).
Lisa holds an Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Science. She also has Advanced Standing and Licensure in School Social Work and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in School Administration. She earned all of these credentials at UNCG. In addition, Lisa has multiple leadership certifications to support her work.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys cooking, traveling, event planning, volunteering, and spending time fishing with her husband and her two dogs, Chopper and Porter.
